Electronic Money Order(eMO).

Electronic Transmission Of Money Order(eMO) facilitates transmission of money orders electronically among connected post offices registered as eMO offices. The facility shall be started initially from connected Head Post Offices and Sub Post Offices only. The connected head Post Offices and sub Post Offices will book the electronic /money Orders for other connected HOs(including BOs in account). eMO is a system of transmission of money orders and not a new service.

eMO will have the following Features:

  • eMO will be booked by the post offices where Wide area network(WAN) connectivity by NIC or broadband internet connectivity is available and ha sbeen established.Booking of eMOs will be limited connected offices whereas payment of MOs will be universial if all HOs are registered as eMO offices.
  • Security: The system provides for web registration of eMO offices by Divisional administrator. The eMO offices have to then register themselves. Hardware configuration of the machine communicating with the central server is recorded by the central server at the time of registration. Only data from this machine will be accpted by the Central Server.
  • Unique PNR number for every MO booked, to facilitate tracking through IndiaPost website.
  • After payment, the post office of payment will upload payment details into the system. Payment details for non-connected posr offices will be updated by the connected office that has printed the MOs.
  • Intimation of Payment will reach the office of booking electronically.
  • Remitter will use e.

  • Communication messages available only through standard codes.
  • Sender can send own messages within 100 characters.
  • The eMO system will have provision for:
    1. remittance from one to one;
    2. remittance from one to many
    3. remittance from many to one(payment purposes can be configured)
  • The system provides for registration of bulk matters and bulk payees by the Divisional Administrator.
  • The system Provides for bulk booking of MOs on the basis of list provided by the remitter in soft copy.
  • Payment of'Many-to-one' MOs will be through a consolidated list.
  • MIS tracking and data download facility to remitter and payee respectively in the case of bulk booking/payment.
  • MIS for administrators in India Post(Directorate level, circle level, Region level and division level) for monitpring.
  • Provision for MIS for the purpose of auditing/pairing.
  • The system provides alerts about the MOs pending for transmission at office of booking and the MOs pending for printing at the post office of payment.

Electronic Money order (eMO) Value and Commission structure:

Maximum limit of remittance and tariff structure would remain the same as applicable in case of ordinary money service.

eMO Head of Account:

A separate haed of account is provided for accounting the Reciept and Payment of eMOs. This facilities provision of MIS for electronic transmission and enables better monitoring.

Bulk booking and Bulk Payment:

The software ha sprovision for booking of eMOs under 'One to Many ' service. For this purpose, each customer who intends to send eMOs in bulk would be configured through a webregistration process by the Divisional Administrator concerned i.e. the postal division in whose jurisdiction the bulk remitter is located. Similarly, there is provision for 'Many to One' service. The payee who would be recieving MOs in bulk would be registered by the Divisional administrator.Such bulk remitter/payee would be given a unique customer id for the purpose of MIS, data download and tracking. Payment pruposes can be configured in respect of bulk payee.

Communication Messages in eMOs:

Only standard coded messages will be used in communication portion of eMO. A list of codes is indicated in Annexure-C. The list of codes will be updated from time to time.

Acess to the authorities for various functions:

Access into the system for operational an dadministrative authority shall be limited as per the role and activity assigned to them.

The Divisional administrator has to create the eMO office to enable the concerned connected post offices to register themeselves with the Central Server and start operations. The Divisional administrator also has the role of creating the Bulk Remitter and Bulk payee in its jurisdiction.

The administrative authorities like Nodal Division of Postal Directorate, Chief Postmaster General and Divisional superintendent will be given access to MIS enable them to monitor operations.

The pairing of eMOs needs to be done by the Director, Postal Accounts, who will be given necessary MIS and data download access.

Connected Offices:

The expression 'connected post offices' means Head Post Offices or Sub Post Offices having connectivity with National Data Centre. The preffered mode of connectivity is through WAN. The alternate mode of connectivity is through Broadband internet.
